Before and after photo's of Carpobrotus.
Also known as Pigface, Bain (Noongar) , Karkalla and Beach Bananas.
The fruit tastes like a salty strawberry and the leaves can be cooked like a vegetable, as well as used like aloe vera.

Where could we purchase these native plants and are the flowers edible?

I have a yellow flowering one, would this be a local variety?

What does the fruit look like? I’ve only ever had pink flowers on mine I think.

Salty strawberry, will have to try that!

Thank you so much! I’ve been wondering how to enjoy these

Winnie Bulger, for the school garden maybe?

And pickled and used in salads.

They are beautiful

Pickled

When I was growing up these grew like weeds on our property. We never knew they were edible, mum and dad used to rip it up and get rid of it 😞 if only we had internet back then 😅

literally tried again today to pick one to try, still chose one that was astringent and not at all sweet. salty I got though! they were squishy too -_- maybe one day I will understand lol

Tammy JG. This is what we planted at ledge

I saw one recently, not yet fully open, with a tiny pink spider inside.

Haven't had flowers on mine yet?

Joe Tredray these guys are edible ground cover toooo

Merryn Miller what you took a cutting of
